MEET THE AUTHOR

Sarah Levine, award winner author of Each Knuckle with Sugar and Take Me On.

Sarah Levine is a two-time Pushcart Prize nominee and author of Each Knuckle with Sugar, winner of the Driftwood Press Open Reading Contest (2024) and two chapbooks, Take Me Home, a finalist for the New Women’s Voices Chapbook Competition (Finishing Line Press, 2020) and Her Man (New Megaphone Press, 2014). Her work has appeared in Poets & Writers, an episode of podcast The Hive Poetry Collective with Julia Chiapella, Passages North, The Paris AmericanBest New Poets anthology, and Green Mountains Review among others.

Levine received the Martha’s Vineyard Institute for Creative Writing Summer Poetry Fellowship and won the Westchester Review Writers Under 30 Prize. Additionally, she has read her poetry on many stages including the Sarah Lawrence Poetry Festival, New York City Poetry Festival with Yusef Komunyakaa, Popsicle Literary Festival, Emerging Writers Series at Madison College, Noepe Center for Literary Arts, Write Angles Conference, AWP Seattle, and contributed poems from Westchester Review which were recorded, taped, and included in an LMC-TV cable series.

Levine is also a certified classroom educator and has experience teaching at the elementary, middle, and secondary levels for over 10 years. She teaches 7th Grade ELA, Creative Writing and 12th Grade AP Literature at Williston Northampton School where she currently holds the Richard C. Gregory Endowed Chair. Her teaching and educational leadership have received multiple awards, among them: Massachusetts Poetry Community Award, National Endowment for Humanities Summer Professional Development Grant, and Barnes and Noble Favorite Teacher Regional Contest winner.

She earned her MAT from Smith College with a focus on middle and secondary English education with support from the Hilltown Charter Fellowship (2018), MFA from Sarah Lawrence College with a concentration in poetry (2012), and BA in English, concentration in creative writing, from University of Massachusetts Honors College where she received the Cleo Zoukis Ploussis Scholarship for Excellence in English, studied abroad for a summer at Oxford University, Trinity College, and graduated in three years with distinction (summa cum laude, phi beta kappa, and phi kappa phi, 2010).

Ms. Levine currently lives in Western MA with her husband and senior pitbull, Fat Boy.
